AI Infrastructure Reshapes Arabian Travel Market Agenda in 2026 Showcase

Event expands tech infrastructure as operators deploy AI and digital tools for travel operations.

DUBAI WORLD TRADE CENTER will host the 33rd Arabian Travel Market from September 14 to 17, with artificial intelligence and digital transformation no longer occupying the margins of the agenda but serving as its organizing spine.

Running under the theme Travel 2040: Driving New Frontiers Through Innovation and Technology, the event brings together airlines, hotel groups, destinations, travel technology companies and tourism authorities at a moment when the sector is navigating economic uncertainty, shifting traveler expectations and rapid technological change. Organizer RX Global has structured the program around confidence, resilience and collaboration, with particular emphasis on how artificial intelligence, smart mobility and immersive platforms could reshape travel operations and customer experience.

The infrastructure supporting that focus represents a concrete expansion of the event itself. ATM Travel Tech, a dedicated co-located exhibition, launches this year with more than 180 exhibitors from 30 countries spread across two halls. The Tech and Innovation Hub will showcase developments in artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, robotics, fintech and green technologies. Sessions run across multiple stages, including the Global Stage, Future Stage and Experience Hub, covering aviation, hospitality, destination resilience, luxury travel, accessibility, sustainability and investment.

Danielle Curtis, Regional Portfolio Director for UAE at RX Global, placed the timing in direct terms. “ATM has always been about bringing the global travel community together, and this year that role feels particularly important,” she said, pointing to the dual priority of strengthening partnerships while addressing both immediate industry pressures and longer-term opportunities.

Meanwhile, specific operators are arriving with concrete deployment plans rather than concept presentations. Emirates plans to use ATM to deepen tourism partnerships and explore opportunities across specialized traveler segments. Al Rais Travel will launch a new digital platform featuring Voice AI and Chat AI tools designed to make trip planning more personalized. Sabre, joining as a strategic partner for ATM Travel Tech, has flagged the need for travel companies to balance current geopolitical and economic uncertainty with emerging technological opportunities.

The conversion challenge is real. Haitham Mattar, Managing Director for India, Middle East and Africa at IHG Hotels and Resorts, identified the next phase as transforming the substantial capital already deployed across Middle East tourism, hospitality and connectivity infrastructure into sustainable, long-term demand. He argued that shift increasingly depends on using technology and data to reduce friction across the guest journey and deliver more relevant experiences.

ATM has expanded 16 percent year-on-year and now draws more than 55,000 travel professionals from 166 countries, according to organizers. Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, described platforms such as ATM as important to strengthening international partnerships and accelerating innovation across the visitor economy, consistent with Dubai’s wider ambition to reinforce its position as a global business and leisure hub.

The practical question the event leaves open is whether the technology deployments announced across four days in September translate into measurable operational improvements by the time the industry reconvenes.
