Abu Dhabi Birth and Death Certificates Go Fully Digital

Families can now register births and deaths online around the clock via TAMM

Families in Abu Dhabi can now register a birth or obtain a death certificate entirely online, at any hour, in minutes. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi have activated a digital integration that enables electronic issuance and digital attestation of these certificates through TAMM, the emirate’s government services platform. For households navigating some of life’s most significant moments, the change removes a familiar burden: steps that were previously separate are now combined into a single procedure on one unified platform.

The service runs around the clock. What once required multiple administrative touchpoints can now be finished within minutes. By cutting administrative complexity, the integration is intended to deliver a secure, reliable and seamless experience for individuals and families across the emirate, and it forms part of broader efforts to improve the quality of government services in Abu Dhabi.

HE Sheikha Hissa bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs, said the ministry continues to strengthen its integrated approach through strategic institutional partnerships with government entities, supporting seamless coordination and accelerating digital transformation. Enhanced data exchange, system interoperability and streamlined service procedures for a unified digital journey, she noted, contribute to smarter, more efficient and proactive services that place customers at the center of the experience.

These efforts, she added, are a key step in reimagining government service delivery through greater integration, simplification and digital enablement, reflecting the UAE’s commitment to a more agile and future-ready government ecosystem and reinforcing its global leadership in government innovation, service excellence and digital transformation.

Meanwhile, from the health side, His Excellency Khalaf Helal Al Mazrouei, Director General of Corporate Enablement and Community Services at the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi, said the collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs exemplifies the department’s commitment to enhancing customer experience and delivering seamless, user-centred services through unified digital channels. “This initiative supports our vision of building one of the world’s most intelligent and resilient healthcare ecosystems by elevating administrative processes and improving service quality,” he said. “Through combining issuance and attestation into a single streamlined digital journey, we are driving operational efficiency and accelerating Abu Dhabi’s ambition for an integrated, digitally empowered government.”

The scale of demand shows how many people stand to benefit. In 2025, approximately 47,000 birth and death certificates were issued across the emirate, meaning tens of thousands of households each year touch these essential documents at moments of arrival and loss.

The integration also sits within a wider pattern of consolidation. MoFA continues to partner with government entities to advance digital integration and support the UAE’s whole-of-government approach for a more connected government ecosystem. To date, the ministry has integrated its services with a wide range of government partners, contributing to a reduction of up to 90 per cent in procedures, requirements and service delivery times.

The Department of Health says it will keep working alongside its partners to develop additional advanced digital services aligned with the emirate’s priorities to enhance government efficiency, accelerate processes and provide quality services in line with the highest international standards. Which everyday services join birth and death certificates on TAMM next remains an open question.
