Corrections Policy — Rimal Wire

Rimal Wire aims for accurate, fair and accountable journalism across the United Arab Emirates. When we get something wrong, we correct the record promptly and transparently. This policy explains how to report errors, how we review them internally, where corrections appear, and expected timelines.

How to report errors

If you believe a story contains an error — factual, contextual or significant omission — please tell us: - Email: [email protected]
- Use the contact form at /contact/ on rimalwire.com

Include the article URL, a clear description of the error, and any supporting documentation or sources. We do not accept corrections via social media as the primary channel; use the email or contact form so we can track and respond.

Internal review steps

  1. Acknowledgement: We aim to acknowledge correction requests within one business day.
  2. Assignment: A corrections editor or the overseeing editor is assigned to review the issue.
  3. Verification: We verify facts by checking original sources, notes, recordings, public records and, where appropriate, consulting the reporter, editor or outside experts.
  4. Decision: The editor determines whether a correction, clarification, update, retraction or no change is warranted. Legal or safety concerns are escalated to the editor-in-chief and legal counsel as needed.
  5. Implementation: Approved corrections are applied to the article and documented publicly.

Where corrections appear

  • Article-level: For significant factual corrections we add a correction note at the top or bottom of the article explaining what changed, why, and when. The article itself is updated so the published record is accurate.
  • Corrections page: A brief log of significant corrections and retractions is maintained on this Corrections Policy page.
  • Other channels: When incorrect information was distributed via social posts or newsletters, we will correct those channels where feasible and add a note linking back to the corrected article.

Minor edits that fix typographical errors, grammar or improve clarity without materially altering meaning may be made without a public correction note.

Timelines

  • Initial acknowledgement: within one business day.
  • Review and decision: typically within three business days for routine cases. Complex or legally sensitive matters may take longer; we will inform the requester of expected timing.
  • Publication of corrections: as soon as practicable after verification, usually within 48–72 hours of the decision.

Retractions and removals

We do not remove articles from the public record except in narrow circumstances such as legal requirement, safety risk, or demonstrable harm. Retractions are clearly labeled and explained.

Contact [email protected] or use the /contact/ form to report an error. We value readers’ help in keeping our coverage accurate.
