Segway Opens First GCC Service Hub in Riyadh to Support Gulf Operations
Segway establishes company-owned service and retail operations in Saudi Arabia to support regional powersports network.
Segway Powersports opened its first Gulf Cooperation Council flagship facility in Riyadh’s Industrial North district on July 2, establishing a permanent retail and service hub for a market the company has been building toward across five countries.
The Riyadh location functions as the company’s primary customer experience center for the Gulf, combining product displays, test-drive scheduling, after-sales servicing, and event hosting under one roof. It anchors a broader regional network that currently spans Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait, with further dealer and retail expansion planned across the region.
The store opening coincided with the Saudi market launch of the Super Villain SX20T, Segway’s most powerful side-by-side to date. The vehicle runs a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 235 horsepower and 280 lb.-ft. of torque, paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission, K-Man 3.0 adjustable suspension, front locking differential, and selectable drive modes. It is not an untested product: the SX20T finished third in its class at the Mint 400 off-road race in Las Vegas earlier this year.
The Riyadh showroom stocks Segway’s complete Saudi lineup alongside the new model. That includes the Snarler ATV family (AT5, AT6, and AT10 variants), the Fugleman utility side-by-side range (UT6 and UT10 Crew), and the Villain SX10 sport side-by-side.
Meanwhile, the market context gives the expansion clear commercial logic. Saudi Arabia hosts the Dakar Rally, one of the world’s most demanding off-road racing events, and the country’s desert terrain has produced an established recreational riding culture and a customer base already oriented toward high-performance powersports equipment.
Ethan Zhang, sales and marketing president of Segway Powersports, framed the Riyadh facility as an operational shift rather than simply a sales move. “Saudi Arabia is one of the most important off-road markets in the Gulf, and the Riyadh flagship gives us a permanent base in the region to connect with customers more closely,” Zhang said. “With the launch of the Super Villain SX20T, we are completing our local lineup and bringing a stronger off-road experience to riders in KSA.”
The distinction matters. Operating a company-owned flagship is a different commitment than managing dealer partnerships. It places Segway directly responsible for service delivery, customer experience, and after-sales support in the region, rather than relying on third-party operators to carry that load.
Whether the Riyadh facility can scale its service capacity to match the ambitions of a five-country network rollout is the question the next phase of the expansion will have to answer.
