Construction Sites Become Testing Grounds for Dubai PropTech Innovation
Real construction sites become innovation labs for emerging building technologies across the UAE and beyond.
Innovo Group has opened more than 130 live construction sites across the UAE as testing grounds for emerging PropTech solutions, formalizing the arrangement through a partnership with Dubai PropTech Hub, an initiative of the Dubai International Financial Centre.
The memorandum of understanding was signed at DIFC by Mohammad Alblooshi, Chief Executive Officer of DIFC Innovation Hub, and Simon Penney, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Innovo, with His Excellency Arif Amiri, CEO of DIFC Authority, and Bishoy Azmy, CEO of Innovo, serving as witnesses. The agreement puts Innovo’s active project portfolio directly in service of start-ups enrolled in Dubai PropTech Hub’s Global Landing Pad programme.

The operational logic is straightforward. Start-ups need real sites. Innovo has them. The company’s portfolio spans luxury residential developments, villa communities, educational facilities, hospitality, commercial and transport hubs, and critical urban infrastructure. With half of the inaugural programme’s participants focused on pre-construction and construction phases, those sites will host live trials of artificial intelligence, robotics, digital twins, automation, sustainable materials and new construction methodologies.
Azmy framed the arrangement as a response to a sector under pressure: “The construction industry is at a critical innovation juncture. As governments across the region advance ambitious infrastructure and urban development agendas, the industry must rethink how the built environment is designed and delivered. By joining Dubai PropTech Hub, Innovo is reinforcing its commitment to reimagining construction and providing start-ups with the live project environments and engineering expertise needed to prove and scale their solutions.”
Meanwhile, the hub itself is working toward concrete targets. Launched in 2025 as part of the DIFC Innovation Hub, Dubai PropTech Hub aims to support more than 200 PropTech start-ups and attract over USD 300 million in investment by 2030. It offers customised licensing options, purpose-built physical workspaces, and a full suite of commercialisation support programmes.
The construction sector accounts for approximately 9.2 percent of the UAE’s GDP, making delivery reliability in this space a matter of national economic consequence, not just industry interest.
His Excellency Arif Amiri pointed to the gap the partnership is designed to close: “Innovo’s participation enhances our ability to move PropTech solutions from concept into live construction environments. By providing start-ups with access to real projects, this collaboration accelerates commercial adoption and delivers tangible value for the industry.”
The partnership’s scope extends well beyond the UAE. Innovo, headquartered in London with offices in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Toronto, Cairo and Luanda, operates across four continents. Innovations proven on UAE sites are intended to travel, with the collaboration explicitly targeting the Global South, spanning Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America, where the bulk of future urbanisation and construction growth is projected to occur.
For clients, the practical benefit is reduced deployment risk. Technologies entering Innovo projects will have been tested against genuine construction conditions before wider rollout, which the company says translates directly into stronger productivity, safety, quality and delivery certainty.
The question now is how quickly the Global Landing Pad’s cohort can move from pilot to proven at scale, and whether the model Dubai is building holds up when exported to markets with very different infrastructure conditions.
